Light salmon colour with reddish gold play of light, fine, persistent mousseux, delicate, fresh and very animating nose, fruit and spice with hints of fresh cherries and forest berries, a sophisticated note of citrus. Dry, fruit-driven yet creamy on the palate, finely woven with elegant acidity and mineral extract, very harmonious structure.

This hand harvested sparkling wine is made from 100% Chardonnay grapes from multiple vineyards within the Uco Valley. The nose is bursting with notes of peach, pineapple, mango, mandarin, and watermelon that lead into a bright and fresh palate laced with green apple and a touch of fresh baked bread. Tight bubbles, a touch of sweetness, and toasted almonds with fine chalky tannins round out this delicious wine.

$33 Fio, "Piu Piu" Petnat, Mosel, Sparkling Riesling N.V.
This is an original, a pét nat made from Riesling, but not from a single vintage. In this current release, there are wines that are four to five years old, which were held in stainless steel in a very cold part of the cellar without sulfur. The wines are blended and brought to a warm area where the remaining sugar ferments in the bottle.

This rose shows notes of fresh citrus, crushed stone, passion fruit, grapefruit rind, and watermelon on the nose. The palate is high toned with bright acid, red fruit, and peach flavors that lead to a mouthwatering finish. A solid crushed wet rock backbone and watermelon juice notes.

Ripe strawberry and melon are complemented by a mix of crushed stone and hints of savory spice. This is silky in feel yet energized by vibrant acidity, mineral-tinged orchard fruits cascading across the palate. Bright aromas of lemon zest, green apple, and white florals, with an undercurrent of flinty minerality that belies its cool climate origins along the Sonoma Coast. A beautiful tension midpalate elevates the notes of Asian pear and lime which mingle with a vibrant acidity, leading to a clean and refreshing finish.

$36 Stag's Leap Chardonnay, Napa
fragrant and bright with aromatic notes of fresh green apple, lemongrass, lychee, lime peel, coriander spice and jasmine white flowers. On the palate the texture is lively and viscous with mouth enveloping flavors of lemon citron, white peach, Asian pear, lanolin, and white pepper spice.The luscious mouthfeel is a signature of this elegant Chardonnay, providing the round and creamy texture which is a nod to the delicate bâtonnage (lees stirring) that occurs during the winemaking process. Floral aromatics on the nose, with notes of red fruit, cran-raspberry, black fruit and candied violets. Silky soft and lingering tannins add to the balanced and lengthy finish.

Deep garnet in color with abundant aromas of sun-warmed black cherry, raspberry compote, and dark chocolate followed by hints of cedar and black currant. Bold and rich tones layered with flavors of fresh strawberry cobbler and bramble accompanied by notes of cinnamon and nutmeg. This wine has rich tannins, nice concentration, depth, and natural acidity that expresses the authenticity of a Sonoma County Pinot Noir.

A great wine at an amazing value! 5 stars for value and overall flavor profile. The Backhouse Chardonnay is also a very nice wine that I would recommend. With the holidays these wines are perfect to serve at a party for their drinkablity.
